It’s nice to see that spring has finally arrived in Canada. That’s not to say we haven’t had our wild mix of weather. From snow in Newfoundland and Labrador, to 25 degrees celsius and sunny in Ontario, to……..whatever weather they’ve had in the west. What would warmer weather be without wildfires, and by all accounts, it looks like it’s going to be a another banner year for everything burning down around us!

On a lighter note, we’ve arrived at the May 2-4 weekend! This weekend there will be a ton of people across Canada going to the cottage or taking their travel trailer for some weekend fun. I’m stuck working this weekend, but that’s ok. God knows I’ve had my share of fun during the long weekend of May.

With the long weekend, the police will be out in full force. They’ll be nabbing people for everything from speeding, to impaired driving. Last I heard, impaired driving numbers are up. You would have thought that there has been enough death, damage and devastation done due to drunk driving, but apparently not. Many of the impaired driving charges will be due to being high I’m sure! It’s funny how people think there’s a difference. In any event, I’d guess many charges will be laid and vehicles impounded this weekend.

As we start this May 2-4 weekend (on May 16th I might add), I’d like to wish everyone a safe and enjoyable weekend with lots of fun for all. Remember, if you’re going to be impaired, stay out of your vehicle. There’s no need for someone’s life to be cut short due to stupidity.

Here’s to the long weekend of May!
