I can’t be the only person out there who is loving the gas prices these days. Two weeks ago I went out and filled my gas tank for 76.9 cents/litre. Now prices are in the mid 80 cent range. I thought I’d never see prices this low ever again. Actually, not too long ago I was thinking I’d never see prices below a dollar again. Boy was I ever wrong.
So any theories as to why prices have fallen so rock bottom within weeks? Very odd isn’t it? How could this be? Personally, I don’t believe the reasons we’re being spoon fed for one minute.  If there’s one thing I know, especially when it comes to the oil industry, is that NOTHING happens unless it suits OPEC.
Getting into reasons, well there are a ton of reasons as to why this is happening now, but ONLY one reason comes to mind above all else. The oil industry DOES NOT want green intiatives to gain any head way. It’s NOT good business for oil and gas if we were to start actually caring about the planet and suddenly decide to stop destroying it. People in general ONLY understand one language. It’s NOT English, French, Spanish or Chinese. The single language everyone understands is M…O…N…E…Y. That’s right, money. I’m guessing most people are so busy enjoying the brake at the pumps right now, that’s it’s not on anyone’s mind about alterative fuels, electric cars, or the environment. Let’s face it, until people start coughing up blood, very little is going to be done about it. The oil and gas industry just unequivocally placed the GREEN movement in a death grip. Since governement only cares about how they can win the next election, you’ll see less and less interest from government to do anything about the environment as well. Unless we see a revolution of sorts, that WILL NEVER change.
So for now, like many others, I’ll just keep burying my head in the sand and enjoy these rock bottom fuel prices. It’s only a matter of time before fuel prices sky rocket again and this will only be a pleasant but distant memory. I have a feeling though that lower prices are here to stay for a while. You can kiss environmentally friendly alternatives goodbye. I’m sure big oil and gas are crying a river….yeah right!
